Another season at Adventure Bay has come and
gone. Although it was a very sad season for me - it being the first one without
Tom, who passed away in November 2008 - I looked forward to immersing myself in
all the activities Rice Lake has to offer. I was lucky enough to have Ed Boyce,
a long-time friend of Tom and I, help out with the Camp. Without his help, I
would have been completely lost.
Fishing
It was a GREAT season for fishing! The walleye were
plentiful from opener until the very end. The bass were virtually everywhere
including areas in which they had not been before. Pan fish were larger than
normal and were plentiful. I expect next season to be just as good, so book
early.
New fishing regulations went into effect as of
January 1, 2010, and can be found at the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR)
website at www.ontario.ca/zonecouncils.
Rice Lake is in Zone 17 (FMZ 17). Other information, such as fishing license
rates, are posted on this website as well. Please take a look before you come
up to fish next season. Below are our yearly big fish winners: Congratulations
to all the winners! You can pick up your trophies during your visit in 2010.

Passports
As a reminder, passports are now required for air
and car travel into and out of the United States. You can find all the
pertinent information at http://travel.state.gov/passport.
A cost-effective alternative is the passport card, which is $45 and allows a
U.S. Citizen to travel into Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean or Bermuda by land or
sea. You can find all the pertinent information on the passport card at http://travel.state.gov/passport/ppt_card/ppt_card_3926.html.
Fishing Seasons
The length of the fishing
season has changed for pan fish. Now you can fish year round for pan fish.
There were several other changes which will be applicable to the upcoming
season. Please make sure you review the new regulations at www.ontario.ca/zonecouncil.
Rate Changes
Due to a rise in operating costs, there will be rate
changes for 2010. Just as it was last year, the rents in cabins 16, 17 and 18
will be slightly higher to offset the rise in septic pumping costs.
Reservations
To reserve your cabin for the 2010 season, please
use the enclosed self-addressed, stamped envelope to send in your deposit.
Deposits are now $250 and are due by February 15, 2010.
Seasonal Cottages
There are cottages available for seasonal rentals,
so if you are interested, please contact me for information.
